Directory

Members often do not know who else is in their own organisation: who is a plumber, who lives nearby, who sits on which committee. The Directory lets members find each other, and each other's businesses, while every member stays in charge of what is shown about them.

For your organisation

  1. Open Directory in your organisation's menu. Members shows everyone who is a member today. A former member is gone from the directory at once.
  2. Take someone out: tap Take out beside a member, for a child or for someone who must not be found. Put back undoes it.
  3. Businesses: when a member lists a business or profession, it waits here. Tap Yes, add it, or No with a word to the member.
  4. Settings: switch the list of members or the businesses on and off, choose whether you look at each business first, and write a word for the top of the directory.
  5. Anyone can read the businesses: tick it and you get a link to share. It shows only the businesses, never your members, and only those whose member agreed.
  6. On your own website too: once the businesses are open to everyone, open Website and tick Businesses of your members. Your website then shows the first few, with a link to all of them.
  7. With branches: choose a branch above the list to see its members only.
  8. Members writing to each other is off unless you switch it on: under Settings tick Members can write to each other through Azonation. It is your organisation's own choice. With it on, a member can report a message to you, block a writer, or say no to messages.
Reported: when a member reports a message another member wrote to them, it shows under Reported, with what was written and the member's note. You see only messages that were reported, never the others. Tap Dealt with when you have looked at it, or Take the writer out of the directory.
The report: under Reports, The directory shows how many members are in it, how many show more than their name, the businesses, and how many messages members wrote to each other. Never what they wrote.
What members see of each other: name, photo, kind of membership and committee roles. Anything more is only what that member typed. You cannot fill it in for them.
Nobody can download the list. Members read it a page at a time and search it; there is no export for members.

For a member

  1. Open My memberships, your organisation, and the tab Directory.
  2. Members: search by name, what someone does, town or role.
  3. Businesses: search, or choose a kind of business. Look for For members: an offer for fellow members.
  4. My entry: type what you want to show (what you do, about you, an email, a phone, your town, a link). A box left empty is not shown. Tick Take me out of the directory and nobody finds you.
  5. Your businesses: tap List a business. If your organisation looks at it first, you are told when it is in the directory. Up to three. Tap Add a picture for a logo or a photo.
  6. Write to a member (only when your organisation switched this on): tap Write beside their name. They get your message in Azonation and by email, with your name; neither of you sees the other's email address. Do not want this? Under My entry untick Other members may write to me through Azonation.
  7. Find a business near you: tap Near me and allow your browser to say where you are; choose how far to look. The nearest come first, with how far away each is. Where you are is used for that search only and is not kept. You can also choose a Town, and tap Show on a map.
  8. Messages: everything you and another member wrote to each other is under Messages; open a name to read it and to answer. Under a message someone wrote to you, tap Report to tell your organisation about it. Tap Block and that person's messages no longer reach you; they are not told.
Near me finds nothing? A business is found near you when its address has a UK postcode, or when Azonation has a map service. Ask the member to add the postcode to the address.

Be found by the public (free, for every organisation)

  1. Open Settings of your organisation and tap Be found by the public.
  2. Tick Show our organisation in the public list, write a sentence or two about it, and choose up to four things it is about.
  3. Anyone can then find it at /organisations (there is a link Find an organisation at the foot of Azonation's public pages), by name, town, country and kind. The list shows your name, logo, kind, country and town; nothing about your members.

Follow an organisation, and what is on (free)

  1. For anyone: at the foot of Azonation's public pages, Find an organisation lists the organisations that chose to be found, and What is on lists their coming public events.
  2. Follow: sign in and tap Follow beside an organisation. It then shows under Following in your own menu, with its coming public events. Once a day you are told when it has a new one. Tap Stop following at any time.
  3. For your organisation: an event shows there when your organisation is in the public list and you ticked Show on our website for that event. Under Settings, Be found by the public you see how many people follow you, never who.
There is no public wall, no comments and no list of followers: only what your organisation chose to make public.
