Choosing whether organisations may add you
By default an organisation can add you as a member straight away, and you are told. If you want more say, you can ask to be asked first.
- Open Your profile and find Privacy.
- Tick Ask me before an organisation adds me. From then on an organisation sends you an invitation, which you see on your home page and under My memberships. A few days before an invitation ends, Azonation reminds you once. Choose Accept or Decline. The organisation only sees "Declined", never why.
- If you do not want an organisation to invite you again, tick that when you decline. You can undo it later on the same page.
- Untick Organisations can find me if you do not want to appear when organisations search for people to add. You can still ask to join an organisation yourself.
- To end a membership yourself, open the organisation under My memberships and choose Leave this organisation. Your record stays with them as a former member.
For organisations: when someone has asked to be asked first, adding them shows "Invitation sent" and the members page lists them under Waiting for their answer, where you can withdraw the invitation. An invitation lasts 30 days.
