Text messages (SMS)
Not every member reads email or opens the app. A short text message reaches the phone in their pocket. Because each one costs money and people are careful about their phone number, Azonation sends them only where it must, and only to members who asked for them.
For your organisation
- Write the member's phone number with its country code on their page, such as +880 1712 345678.
- When you write a message to your members (Messages, New message), tick Also send as a text message (SMS). The page shows how many members it will reach and how many text messages you have left this month.
- The text message is one short line: your organisation's name and the subject. The whole message is in the email and in Azonation.
Who gets one: only members who switched text messages on for your organisation themselves. You cannot switch it on for them: it is their phone and their choice.
The tick is not shown? Text messages are not offered to your organisation yet, or not for your country.
What counts: every text message your organisation causes in a month, the codes to vote as well. A long subject can count as two.
How many you have, and how to get more: open Plan. The line Text messages (SMS) this month shows how many you have used and how many your plan gives. Need more? Under Add-ons tap Add beside the pack of text messages. It counts at once, on every plan, the free one too. You can take several packs, and give one back from the first day of next month.
Need more only once, for an election or a big event? Under Add-ons tap Buy beside text messages (SMS), bought once. You pay once, not every month. You can use them at once, and for 12 months; the page shows how many are left and the day to use them by. Your month's own text messages are used first. An invoice for them is made straight away (see Invoices). While such invoices are still to pay you can buy a few, then the page asks you to pay first.
The same for emails and WhatsApp messages. On a paid plan you can also Buy emails or WhatsApp messages once, for the month you write to everyone. And the admins are told in the same way when the month's emails or WhatsApp messages are running low, and when none are left.
"Waiting for payment"? Some things bought once count only when their invoice is paid. After you tap Buy the invoice opens, and the Plan page shows, for example, 500 waiting for payment with Pay the invoice. As soon as the invoice is paid they are yours.
You are told in time. When most of the month's text messages are used, the admins get a notice and an email: "Text messages are running low". When none are left: "No text messages left this month". Each comes once a month at most. Until you add more, or the next month starts, no text messages go out; email and notices in Azonation go on as usual.
For a member
- Open My memberships and your organisation.
- Under Text messages tick Send me text messages (SMS) from this organisation. It shows the last four digits of the phone number your organisation has for you.
- Untick it at any time to stop them.
The wrong phone? Ask your organisation to correct your number.
A code to vote can come by text message even without this tick: it is something you asked for yourself, at that moment, by pressing "Send me a code".
